Is your child the one who sings all day? Dances to every tune? Pretends or has imaginary friends? Loves to dress up? This is the perfect first step into the wonderful world of theatre for them. Using props, costumes, improv, puppets, and creating characters, not only builds a child's language skills, but also provides the makings of stage play. Theatre tots is a fun, learning experience that will engage and develop the pint-sized player with a blend of fine arts and academics.

SEUSSOLOGY - ages 7 - 15

Sure you think you know Dr. Seuss, but have you ever heard his story told from a Crow? This wild, rollicky adventure into the rhyme and reason of Suess, is a musical theatre show like no other. Cast members will help Horton find a Who and the Lorax save his home, not to mention the Sneetches finding a star upon thar. This fast paced musical will lead cast and audiences through the story book pages of the master of rhyme, to discover just where to eat green eggs and ham. Join the Cat In The Hat as he tries to explain why a cat is the only cat who knows where it is at!

Rehearsals begin April 3rd on Mondays and Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 - 12:00 PM. Parent meeting April 3rd from 6:30 - 7:00 PM with rehearsal to follow.   Tech week May 29 - June 1.    Show dates June 2nd - 4th.

GREASE! - Sing Out Vocals!

Rydell High will never be the same after it finds its halls filled with the sounds and songs from GREASE! Learn vocal technique while singing the Fan Favs from this Broadway musical. From Greased Lightning to Beauty School Drop Out, you will rock and roll your way through this vocal experience. Working with musical theatre numbers, students learn breath control, posture, develop volume, sight singing, reading vocal lines and tips and tricks for the challenges of the Broadway belt. Musical theatre uses many styles from the belt to operatic, to rock, often times within the same musical. Using a mix of science and practical theory, Cast Members will learn the strengths of the different voices, how to use them, and how to protect them.

STAGE DOOR ADVANCED VOCAL TECHNIQUE - Team only

This class is designed for the singer who is ready to learn more advanced vocal techniques. Throughout this term we will be focusing on breath management, posture, sight singing, pitch control while singing harmonies. Students will learn to internalize harmonies and rhythms, listen to each other, and sing with better technique and stage presence. This class is required for Stage Door Cast Members.

GREASE! - Musical Theatre Dance Class

Learn Fan Favorites from the Broadway Musical Grease! This Fifties classic from Rydell High will have you dancing to the greatest hits of the show, while learning the basic musical theatre techniques. From chorus to partner dancing, this class is rock and roll at its best.

STAGE DOOR ADVANCED DANCE TECHNIQUE - Team only
This class is focused on honing the dancer's technique and improving musicality while also employing storytelling. Students will expand their musical theatre choreography skills in various styles from different eras. Several different combinations will be taught throughout the year to ensure the cast members versatility. This class is a required dance class for Stage Door Performance Team. Stage Door cast will work with a choregrapher on technique and performance repertoire. This class is required each term.

Improv

MIX IT UP THEATRE - IMPROV - ages 10 - 18
Want to develop your acting skills? Let's start with improvisation. Finding the confidence to explore, project and gain stage presence through the art of improvisation. This class will let you stretch your acting skills or begin to exercise your desire to act. From the master, you will learn to take your shot, team building and creative thinking on stage.

BROADWAY KIDS - ages 6 - 8

Designed to teach the foundations of acting for kids aching to be a Broadway star. From Broadway basics to staging, cast members are highly involved in creative drama activities. Cast members will re-create musical theatre numbers from favorites like Annie, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and more. They will sing, dance, act and soon be the triple threat of the young set.

Dr. Seuss characters come to the stage in Seussology. Entr'actes will have the opportunity to join the main cast in this rollicky, frolicky adventure into the world of Seuss. Featuring their own skits, songs and dances, the Entr'actes will entertain audiences during the show. A great way to get their acting feet wet, one foot, two foot, red foot, blue foot!

Grease is our Summer Musical and auditions are just around the corner. Want to make yours one that shines? Want to polish your monologue, find the best vocal, dress to impress and fine tune your acting skills? Then this is the class for you. Consider putting your best foot forward as you work through the exercises and develop the right skills for your audition or for any audition you may want to land.

TAKING THE STAGEages 8 and up
The lights are up! It's your cue! Are you ready? Of course, you are destined to be a star. Join this beginning acting class working on skits, improvisation, ways to lose that stage fright and how to pick up lines. From the moment you put on the costume and take the stage, we will explore all the beginning acting techniques in this class. Actors will perform their final piece for the Showcase performance in June.
